Course Description
Causes of environmental problems that society faces and the effects on ecosystem and community function and species survival. Implications for environmental and human health are explored. Prerequisite: Biology graduate student or permission of instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Assess how foundational work in ecological and evolutionary biology frames a “larger picture” of the biological sciences;
- Break down the scientific literature by efficiently reading and critically interpreting foundational and modern papers;
- Develop and demonstrate oral communication skills through class discussions and presentations related to the scientific literature.
