Human Anatomy

Course Description

Human anatomy with study of skeletons, models, and anatomical preparations. Includes dissection of cat. Prerequisite: A grade of C- or better in BIO 110 or BIO 111 and in BIO 111L. Corequisite: BIO 271L; Notes: May not be taken more than twice.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Recognize and apply appropriate anatomical terminology to communicate information regarding the structure of, organization of and interrelationships among the human body’s tissues, organs and organ systems
  • Identify the construction of and the major microscopic and macroscopic features of most human tissues and organs
  • Recognize and recall anatomical variation (both normal and pathologic) present within individual structures or regions of the human body using various modalities such as photos, illustrations, written descriptions or other media

Attendance/Participation:

Attendance is not specifically factored into the overall course grade in this class. However, absences will impact the student's ability to answer in-class iClicker questions and will therefore impact the potential to earn extra credit toward their final grade

Course Materials Purchased by the Students:

This course is part of the “First Day Complete” Program. Students enrolled in this course are charged a set amount per credit hour and all course materials are provided for that charge. This course utilizes the McGraw-Hill CONNECT® online platform, which provides a current e-book version of the Human Anatomy textbook by Michael McKinley, et.al. along with access to online chapter quizzes and other learning tools. This course also utilizes the iClicker student app for in-class question responses.
