Course Description
Research studio and professional practice course. Focus on studio preparation for new media and design capstone projects, and on needed skills and understandings for entering the new media and design industry. Prerequisite: ART 340, ART 341, ART 344, and ART 345, or permission of the instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Create a supportive community within the class through discussions, shared activities and shared goals.

- Develop job search strategies and utilize industry-specific resources to find employment opportunities aligned with career aspirations.
- Understand the utility and purpose of cover letters and resumes to skillfully communicate one’s professional alignment with specific job opportunities.
- Develop familiarity with professional fine arts resources including access to funding, commissions, residencies, collaborations, and exhibitions.
- Create a professional portfolio that is industry specific and that effectively showcases concepts, skills, and creative work.
- Prepare for job interviews through comprehensive preparation, including mock interviews and feedback sessions.
- Explore entrepreneurship and freelancing in the creative industry, including business models, pricing strategies, contract negotiation, and client relationships.
