Course Description

Studio based study of photo-based imagery and digital imaging. In-depth study of Photoshop and complementary photo-based software. Prerequisite: ART 140; ART 240 or ART 241; or permission of instructor.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Create convincing manipulations of photographic images
  • Organize and output images within the adobe creative suite workflow
  • Move images from camera/scanner to Adobe Lightroom and into Photoshop
  • Plan a photoshoot and capture multiple related images and work with them in an informed, strategic, and creative manner
  • Understand the image correction tools of Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Make complex selections and masks in Photoshop
  • Produce a professional digital portfolio
  • Demonstrate high critical reasoning
  • Articulate critical feedback to their peers in a respectful informed manner
  • Demonstrate responsiveness to critical feedback

Course Materials Purchased by the Students:

Students are required to have or purchase a glue stick, scissors, X-acto knife and blades, a small self-healing cutting mat, and a 64 GB USB or external hard drive. You should budget $50 for additional supplies and photo printing.
