Studio course emphasizing stencil based printing techniques merging hand made and photographic imagery. Prerequisite: ART 220.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Have gained knowledge and proficiency in the use of foundational screen print and monoprint techniques and be able to implement them confidently in the future.
- Have practiced numerous print-related skills including designing, measuring, cutting, registering, tracing and transferring, paper preparation, tool care, printing technique, and more.
- Recognize the vital ways in which seriality invites comparative growth giving the artist a deeper understanding of their creative process and inspiring strategies toward productive studio habits including inventive and expansive use of personally created matrices. (drawings, photos, stencils, blocks, screens, etc.)
- Have gained greater understanding and mastery of a range of artist materials and tools.
- Have completed at least four editions of prints showing your attention to the intertwining concerns of personal subject matter with the visual character of a particular medium.
- Be better able to connect printmaking strategies to the development of your personal subject matter and aesthetic goals.

Attendance/Participation:
Regular attendance at all studio work sessions is expected. For obvious reasons, you must be present and attentive to truly understand the work to be done in the printmaking studio and how to handle equipment safely and properly. It is particularly bad form to miss class critiques so make every effort to be present and involved.
Attendance/Participation in 30 full class meetings= 30 points toward your final grade (Attendance is taken by hand during class time)
Course Materials Purchased by the Students:
- 2+ rolls of blue painter’s tape
- Paint markers of various sizes. (Black)
- Rubber gloves (dishwashing-style)
- Inkjet transparencies, 8.5” x 11” or larger
- Write-on transparencies, 8.5” x 11” or larger
- Acetate sheet(s) (heavyweight, reusable, ~20” x 25”)
- Sketchbook
- X-Acto knife w/ extra blades
- Paper for printing
- Various drawing supplies including black ink (Sumi preferred) and brushes
