Foundations in New Media and Design II

Course Description

Through a series of studio projects, students are introduced to the computer as a design tool and art medium while exploring problems related to color, time, visual systems, and seriality. Prerequisite: ART 140.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Strong visual communication skills conveying ideas and information with a considered relationship between visual form and content.
  • Heightened cross-discipline artist/designer exposure
  • Proficiency in applying raster-based software (Adobe Photoshop), vector-based software (Adobe Illustrator) and basic time-based media (video/animation) along with comprehension of application-specific tools and usage.
  • Fluency in written and oral discourse relevant to studio practice and technology.
  • Apply skills gained through course assignments to form their own creative goals and vision.

Attendance/Participation:

Students are allowed up to two absences without an impact on their final grade. Six unexcused absences will lead to automatic failure of the course.

In this course, you will be deducted one half letter grade on your final grade for each additional unexcused absence after two.
