Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • To gain competency and skill in drawing not only the human body but also knowledge in applying these skills to any kind of drawing activity, from perception to invention and abstraction.

Attendance/Participation:

Each student has an allotment of four (4) absences. Absences beyond this amount will result in the student’s course grade being lowered accordingly.

4 Absences = No reduction of the student's final grade

5 Absences = 1 full letter grade reduction of the student’s final grade

6 Absences = 2 full letter grade reduction of the student’s final grade

7 Absences = A student fails this course.

4 Tardies = no reduction of the final grade

5 Tardies = 1 full letter grade reduction of the student’s final grade

6 Tardies = 2 full letter grade reduction of the student’s final grade

  • pad of white or off-white “Strathmore 400 Series Drawing Paper,” 18” x 24”
  • pad of Newsprint Paper,” 18” x 24”
  • drawing board
  • drawing board ‘banana’ clips
  • 4B “Generals” brand charcoal pencils
  • 6B “Generals” brand charcoal pencils
  • cans of spray fixative—not ‘workable’ fixative and make sure it says “matte finish”
  • pink pearl erasers
  • Utility knife with retractable blade
  • Fine grade sandpaper (paddle)
