ASSESSMENT OF PERFORMANCE (GRADING)
UNCG Undergraduate Grading Scale
A+ = 99 - 100%, A = 94 - 97%, A- = 91 - 93%, B+ = 88 - 90%, B = 84 - 87%, B- = 81 - 83 %, C+ = 78 - 80%, C = 74 - 77%, C- = 71 - 73%, D+ = 68 - 70%, D = 64 - 67%, D- = 61 - 63%, and F = 60% or below
The professor will provide verbal feedback from in individual and group critiques of drawings during the creation of the drawings in class throughout the semester; this does not include grading any of these artworks.
UNCG mandates that professors assign and post a midterm grade on UNCGenie. This grade will reflect the student’s progress and improvement up to this point. The grade does not become part of the student’s official record or transcript. The professor does not factor in this midterm grade into the student’s final grade for this course.
The professor will assign a grade for this course based on a final review and submission of a final portfolio presentation created by each student. This portfolio will be a digital slide presentation of student-determined selection of 10 - 15 drawings made by the student over the course of the semester.
The professor will determine each student’s grade for the course based on the student’s improvement as evidenced in the final portfolio and presentation.
The final portfolio (the digital Slide Portfolio) will be 80% of the course grade; submission of an openable Slide Portfolio file according to the assigned schedule is required. This grade will include not only the demonstrated improvement but will also include the quality of the portfolio. Poor presentation (ex.: uneven lighting, cropped page/pages, distracting backgrounds, and similar) will negatively impact this grade.
The final presentation — an oral portion — will be 20% of the course grade. As part of their presentation, the professor will require the student to answer a set of three questions. The presentation and answers to the questions are the only time when student participation will be graded in this course.
