Attendance/Participation:
Attendance Being that this is a studio class, attendance at all classes is mandatory and very important. You are allowed NO unexcused absences. The only absences that will be excused are those connected to illness and family emergency. Unexcused absences will result in your final grade being dropped by a letter increment. So, for example, an A would become an A-. Each additional absence will deduct a letter increment from your grade. It is your responsibility to keep track of your absences, but certainly ask me where you stand if you are uncertain.
Tardiness is a disruption to our classroom. THREE TARDIES EQUAL ONE ABSENCE. THE SAME POLICY APPLIES TO LEAVING CLASS EARLY. Be wary of eating up your two absences through tardiness. Do not schedule meetings with your advisor or your doctor during our class time; these will not be excused absences.
Participation Active and attentive involvement in discussion and all in-class work and activity, is mandatory for this class. If we are to fulfill our learning objectives, we all need to be fully present—to ourselves of course, and also to each other. Please come to class each day prepared to be an active member of our classroom community.
