Course Description

A self-guided online course to support students on academic probation in developing and applying constructive academic recovery behaviors and skills with the goal of restoring academic good standing at UNCG. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor; Notes: Grade: Pass/Not Pass (P/NP).

The purpose of ARS 100 is to offer support and guidance as you meet the following objectives:

Course Goals

  1. Identify the minimum requirements set by the university for students in academic recovery and apply the Academic Good Standing policy and other academic policies at UNCG to your personal academic record.

  2. Create personalized goals for academic success and work with an ARS coach to co‐construct action items to make progress toward those goals.

  3. Evaluate progress toward meeting academic goals and revise action steps as needed by leveraging personal strengths in the event of academic challenges and opportunities.

Attendance/Participation:

Coach Meeting Attendance Policy:

If students miss their scheduled coach meeting or arrive 10 or more minutes late, they will forfeit their points. If students sign into a virtual meeting while in public, driving, or otherwise unable to participate in the meeting as needed, their meeting will be canceled, and they will forfeit their points. If students cancel their ARS coach meeting less than 24 hours prior to the meeting time, they will forfeit their points and will be unable to reschedule for that meeting block. If students need to cancel with less than a 24‐hour notice, and have an unanticipated extenuating circumstance, please email ars100@uncg.edu with documentation of the extenuating circumstance to request an exception to this policy. Please allow 24 hours for documentation to be verified by an ARS team member.

ARS Seminar Attendance Policy:

You must sign in or arrive within 5 minutes of the start time of the seminar and stay the whole time to receive credit. If you attempt to attend a virtual seminar during another class or while driving, or leave and attempt to return, you will be removed from the seminar and will forfeit your points.

Course Materials Purchased by the Students:

No printed materials are required.
