Variable topics in the history of art and its institutions. Prerequisite: ART 110 or ARH 111 or permission of instructor; Notes: May be repeated once for credit when topic varies.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Explain the historical, cultural, social, and institutional contexts relevant to the selected course topic.
- Analyze artworks, visual media, and related institutions using appropriate art-historical methods.
- Evaluate scholarly arguments, evidence, and methodological approaches concerning the selected topic.
- Engage critically and collaboratively with course materials through annotation, discussion, and oral presentation.
- Apply close reading skills to develop arguments grounded in visual and textual evidence through analytical writing and basic research.

Attendance/Participation:
Attendance and active participation together constitute 15% of the final grade. Regular attendance, preparation, and substantive participation are expected; absences, frequent tardiness, or limited participation may lower this grade.
