Course Description

Chronological survey of the preproduction and production art of the Disney and Pixar studios with an introduction to the history of the animated film and cartoon.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Discuss various types of pre-production and production art employed by the Disney and Pixar Studios.
  • Name and analyze the major technical innovations of the Disney and Pixar Studios.
  • Describe the contributions of significant artists from these two Studios.
  • Understand the chronological history of these two studios and their animated products, as well as the early history of animation.
  • Use correct, basic terminology associated with the fine arts, as well as medium-specific vocabulary related to animation.
