Course Description

Chronological, thematic survey of significant works representing visual traditions of Global art from the Paleolithic era to circa 1400 C.E.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Students will develop the tools of art history, including close looking, comparative analysis, critical inquiry, and cultural contextualization.
  • They will gain an understanding of the connection between social, political, and religious movements and the monuments created.
  • Students will learn about different cultures, customs, religions, and practices from around the world, helping them to prepare to work effectively in a global society.
  • Students will learn to recognize, describe, and analyze works of art from around the world.
