Aims, philosophy, and curricula of art education in the secondary school; selection, preparation, and use of teaching materials. Prerequisite: ARE 260; Art Education major.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Understand contemporary theory and practices of art education for secondary schools, as well as curriculum methods for studio, art history, and art criticism.
- Create unit plans as well as instruction lesson plans based on art education frameworks to include considerations for state and national visual arts standards.
- Develop professional awareness, comprehensible philosophy of art education, as well as strong dispositions and positive attitudes toward their forthcoming student teaching.
- Attain constructive knowledge of content in the field necessary for their student teaching.
