Race is among the most fundamental, yet profoundly misunderstood, aspects of socioculture. This course seeks to provide a comprehensive look at race, especially in its sociopolitical and biocultural dimensions.

Identify vital figures who contribute to the development of race theory, ideology and paradigms
Develop a unique understanding of the social history that shapes western ideal of race, racialism, and the African American experience within North America and the world.
