Managing and Leading in the Arts

Course Description

Students will learn about their own work style and best practices of leading and managing people and teams in the specific context of arts and creative organizations. Prerequisite: Grade of C- or better in AAD 301 or permission of instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Discover their own leadership style, challenges, and strengths
  • Determine the necessary practices and processes required to lead a mission-driven arts organization
  • Use marketing and branding strategies to promote action and impact
  • Determine how to build an inclusive team that is motivated and inspired
  • Develop sound financial and human resource management processes to maintain and build capacity
